    Vacuum leak

    2014, 435i, 49k, manual.

CEL came on a few weeks ago. Says "air mass plausibility, air mass too high". It also says running too lean and too rich.

About 3 months ago I had an oil leak over from the valve cover gasket. I did notice that the oil was leaking over the O2 sensor above the exhaust on the passenger side. So that could have something to do with it.

Car has not lost any power or boost.

I personally think that it could be that O2 sensor. Maybe the oil spewing over it could have gotten into the sensor somehow and I should change it but O2 sensors for this car are expensive.

How can I test it? How can I test if it's not the o2 sensor?

Oil on top of the outside of the oxygen sensor does nothing. It's not your oxygen sensor.

Please read all the engine ecu codes with a scanner that can read BMW manufacturer codes (not P codes!) and post them all here.

Your code for air mass plausibility is not related to the oxygen sensor. (for what it's worth, an oxygen sensor for your car is $120 for genuine Bosch, but there's no indication it's the cause of your problems).

There's several floating codes but 102001 is the one for engine light. I did am upgrade to the charge pipe a few months back from stock to VRSF. I checked the ends of the pipe and it seems to be snug in place.Check engine light goes in and out.

Who tuned this? This can easily be a tune issue.

Took it to a local shop to get oil changed and spark plugs changed because MPG was going down. MPG went up a little bit but the CEL still comes on from time to time. Shop said charge pipe is fine they cleand the MAF on charge pipe and next to air box. still have the CEL any other suggestions?
