    Oil change reset interval not working

    I just changed oil on my 2008 E60 ( 250k miles) and successfully reset the oil interval function, with the push button in the center info center just above the steering wheel.
    After the next restart, the message goes to 0 and then the oil counter starts to count backwards and I get error message to change oil.
    It may be the oil level sensor? I will probably will just change that item as car @ next oil change this fall; I am sure that is an original part.
    Any other ideas?
