    2003 Z4 tune?

Hello I am new to the forum. Just bought my wife a 2003 Z4 with 32K miles on it. Here is my question has anyone had their Z4 with the 2.5 motor tuned? if so was the tune via a tuning device you purchased or was it a Pro tuning garage?

    Thanks!
    TR

Hi TR, I’ve tuned quite a few Z4s. Most of the tunes available online are copy/paste and basic, coarse changes (like +3 deg ignition timing across the entire map). They aren’t worth your money. Typically generic mail orders will include either a handheld flash tuner with preloaded tunes or a K+DCAN cable with software to upload the tune only.

Real tuning is time intensive and requires significant experience. Better tuners will use data logging software to verify and tweak the tune. Ignition timing can be tuned with data logs on the street or dyno. Fueling requires an aftermarket wideband sensor and logs, either from the street or dyno. Most dyno shops have a wideband sensor that can be temporarily connected to the tailpipe. VANOS must be tuned on the dyno.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I have been working with pokeybritches for a number of years throughout my build.
You could not be in better hands with his tuning knowledge of the Z4 ECU and its capabilities.
