my car isnt detecting my keys and it shows component protection with a different model car on the speedometer screen. Can anyone point me in a direction here on how to troubleshoot this?

So this happened out of the blue? One day your remote fob starts the car, then the next it doesn’t? And nothing has been done to the car…like coding, addition of new equipment?
Have you been somewhere recently like a “swap/swing” party (since this occurred) where someone else drove a BMW, too…and perhaps you all picked up the wrong remote fobs from the “bowl”.

What happens when you hold the remote fob next to the little icon on the right side of the steering column? There should also be explanation of this in the owners manual (there’s an owners manual built into iDrive, too that has multiple search features).
Below are instructions from a 2020 G05 X5…I do recommend checking your own manual because placement of the remote fob next to the icon is different depending on model/model year. Sometime you hold it flat, sometimes you hold it horizontal, sometimes you’re asked to hold it vertically next to the icon.
