    Modern coilover opinions for e36

Hi all, looking for input on coilovers, mainly track but street legal car.
My AST 4100s are VERY old and now leaking.
    Currently running a 98 M3, stripped, tuned.
ASTs as mentioned, springs 550f, 650r, Vorshlag plates, reinforced rear mounts.
Question is, send the ASTs to Performance for a rebuild or time to upgrade?
Budget max is 2.5k but could stretch if there’s a clear upgrade choice.
    School me!

How did you like your AST's? I don't have any experience with that brand but I would use that as a starting point. The next logical upgrade if you liked your AST's would be going to the next tier including remote res shocks. MCS' currently dominate the next level of shocks in popularity and I can tell you that quality of shock is night and day if you can afford it. 2.5k won't cut it though so you may be better served rebuilding your current shocks and saving up until you can swing it easily.

I have run Motons with 1000 lb+ springs and they rode BETTER than lower end shocks with 550lb springs on my GT3. It was insane. Maybe aeronaut will chime in with his MCS experience to see if it was similar.

I think for the OP, it's a $$$ question. Rebuilt AST's are probably a great option if cost is reasonable. The MCS's are fantastic, but not several grand more than rebuilt AST fantastic, unless you're fighting for tenth's or love bombing up the esses at VIR without turning the wheel.
MCS 1-way non remotes are now $3k.

Thanks guys, yes cost is the main limiting factor. Those MCS1-way are very tempting though

See if the rebuilder can get your 4100's to 4150 specs... might be worth it 'while you're there'

I've just worked with RE Suspension in Mooresville, NC. Rebuild of Bilsteins (former I Stock suspension). Check them out!

Good advice, I will inquire about it if I go the rebuild route. Thx!
