My friend e36 hvac system is only blowing through the windshield . When he pressed the button for the center vent . The air doesn’t get direct to anywhere else but only to the windshied . When he press any other button , it’s doesn’t do a thing . The stepper motor doesn’t make any sounds at all but The fan is blowing like it supposed to in all of the speed . I’m starting to think it’s the blower door that is jammed closed but even if it’s jammed up I should be able to hear the flap changing air flow . The other thing is I’ve search high and dry of the location of the ihka module and it seems like no one ever stated where it is located .
The thoughts of driving the ultimate driving machine makes me want to go to work everyday .

Its BMW ftw
Its resistance on the connectors for the actuators. You can only reach a couple of them, the dash needs to be moved to get to the rest. Find pics and diy from others. If you do this get a can of Deoxit 5% and scrub both ends of the connector with an old toothbrush.

Click the search button, select "search single content type", select the "e36 sub forum" specifically, try the "search titles" then try the "search entire posts".
Sounds like one of the 4 motors is burned out. The one that controls the vent selection is located on the passenger side near the glovebox. If your lucky you might be able to even replace one of them if you remove the glovebox and center console. But if you’ve gone that far just remove the entire dash
If I’m not mistaken the module is located under the obc/sunglass tray in the front center console area. It’s a black slim box good luck
