    Bad DME ground

My 3.3.1 DME only started when I would ground the DME (through the case) to the chassis, then it would work like a champ. Now I installed a KDFi 1.4 PNP Standalone ECU and the case is plastic, so grounding its chassis is not possible. Which wire would possibly be bad? I used a multimeter and every single "Ground" (aka M type) pin from the manual has continuity to the negative so its not a bad ground pin. Could it be a bad relay? I tried to switch the DME relay for another relay and it didnt change anything, so its not a relay problem I believe. Suggestions?

update: I hotwired a ground to "pin 71" on the 88 pin connector, works flawlessly. Gonna trace back that connection and see if its dead on the engine side or if the 88 pin connector needs changing (praying its not the latter)
