    No voice

Android phone. Paired and connected. I call my wife's phone using the IDrive. Connects, rings I can hear her (she's in the house, I'm in the garage). She cannot hear me.

I had the front sunroof actuator and sunroof controller replaced. Before replacing these parts, phone worked perfectly. Now the sunroof / moonroof works but no voice.

Also, I'm getting a control message, "Emergency call malfunction".

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

Well, I was looking in the wrong place for the microphone. It is not in the center overhead console where the dealer said. It is just above the driver's left ear in the headliner. The small 1 inch by 1 inch "Grille" looking thing.

I snapped it out. The microphone is captured. Pulling lightly the small cable and the microphone came out with no resistance. Stuffed my inspection camera in the void and saw the other end. Using bent nose needle nose pliers I grabbed the offending end and pulled it out into the cabin. Connected both ends, called the wife, she could hear and I could hear. Had her call me to make sure it worked both ways. It does.

    Yaaaayyyyy.

Now the only thing is to get the Emergency Call Function to work.

Well, this is odd. Apparently odd is the standard for BMW. As seen above I connected the microphone and tested, works as advertised.

SOS call malfunction and Control message triangle were still on, on the instrument cluster.

I called BMW assist to change contact info for their records, was told it would take 4 - 5 days for the change to take effect.

Here's the odd part, next day I went out to take it somewhere and the Control message and triangle were gone. Using IDrive I went to Control messages and it showed nothing. Either the 4 - 5 day guesstimate was off or it just had to sit overnight to think about what it was doing and it saw the error of it's ways.

Hmm…what I find odd is that BMW didn’t mention to you that your 2014 f15 X5 (which should have had the 3G connectivity) no longer has Emergency (SOS) calling. That function should have ended with the 3G sunset which happened at the end of 3/2022 in the US market.

    Or am I assuming incorrectly thinking you have a 2014 f15 X5?
