    96 840 ASC/ABS module needed

    Hello all,

It appears all the rain we have received here in SoCal has taken a victim in my ASC module. I think I traced the caused of the leak to a blocked cowl drain on the passenger side that caused the water to build up and then spill into the area behind the fresh air intake. Anyway, before knowing there was a leak, the water got into the driver's footwell and got the module wet (about the bottom 1/4 inch of the circuitboard. That would explain the issues I have been having with the asc and abs light.

But I cannot find a module online for my car. Does anyone know where I could source one, or if there is a module that may have a different part number but will still work? Or a business that could rebuild my module?

    My part number is 0 265 109 022

*there are a few modules from an e38 740 in my cars age range for sale that is one digit off with the part number. 0 265 109 021 (as opposed to 022 which is what mine is). Are they interchangeable at all?

    again, thanks for any insight,
    John

The actual BMW part # is 34521164133
They are available new, but from $1100 - $1300+
I have one in Santa Barbara I'd let go for $400

But first... you need to fix that drain issue. It could be a blocked/fractured sunroof drain as well - they go down behind the speaker... but if blocked, it will go down the A pillar and dump into the floor/sill

Thanks so much for the info!

Trust me, finding the water made my stomach drop. The car usually garaged, but it's been out under a Noah cover for a bit. Never been driven in the rain. So finding standing water under the carpet was gutting. I pulled up the carpet and with fans and hair dryers feel I got it all. The other modules are a little higher, so they appear to be spared. The water appeared to be coming from up under the dash near the accelerator petal. I checked the sunroof first thing, appears to drain to all 4 corners fine. I checked the windshield next, and water on the drivers side exited the same drain area as the sunroof (behind front tire) as well as the fender. But the passenger side stayed dry under the car. I removed the trim, and accessed (as best I could) the drain under the windshield in front of the hood strut. While most water goes down the fender as intended, some is routed down this drain which appeared blocked. I tested it after unclogging it and it now appears to drain as intended and not back up in the cowl. The car is now back out of the elements.

I'll PM you about the module. Again thank you!
