( i don t know if this is common knowledge, but maybe someone might benefit from this)

So i just bought an m54b22 e60 to replace my e39 2.8i as a daily(and god damn, Jeremy Clarkson was right about the iDrive) and of course the fuel pump started to wine like a stabbed pig the moment i got home.

As it turns out, you can`t order the fuel pump alone, you must buy the whole pump/hosese/level indicator assembly for like 300 $ OEM or 120 $ aftermarket(i got a Pierburg).

So i did that, but out of curiosity, i took apart the old pump, and lord and behold, under all that plastic, it s just a generic Bosch pump that you can get new for like 20-30 bucks and probably fitted on most cars of the time that needed 3.5 bar of pressure.

I attached some photos, but i they are not too good.
On the pump itself it s written:
580454009
12v Bosch
(014)
38613
Made in Germany

The only thing you might have to come up with a solution to, it s fitting the fuel hose too the new pump itself, since it s a heat shrink type hose, but i guess a bit of heat and a worm gear clamp will work just fine.
