    M54b25tu > 3.0L forged internals help

Over the past few years I致e been doing an m50b25 build and have the engine already done. Recently had the first start fail resulting in the loss of my chassis. I知 going to be saving an 04 325ci chassis and building a spare block. When I was looking into this when I had a 2000 328i sedan the general consensus was to change out the MAF to one for a 350z. I知 planning on running a stock ecu for the initial build with a tune. What other upgrades should I plan while running a stock block on low boost? For the stock block I知 going to toss a new head gasket in and call it a day.

    Always planning:
    ARP studs
    8.5:1 comp decompression plate
    Probably timeserts

Already existing mods that just need swapped:
    Forged rods
    Baffled oil plan
    AN fittings all around
    Rebuilt head
    Security oil pump nut
Probably redo all bearings and rings again

I知 sure I did more but I can稚 remember what else.

The ci is going to need a new trans and I値l be putting a getrag 5 speed in until I can find a blown zf to setup with a samonas set.

What else do I need to just make this run?

What is your budget and build timeline for the complete project?

Eventually I値l be going full stand alone ecu, but right now I just want to do it cheap. I知 hoping about 3 months max. $1200 total cost for engine rebuild and trans swap (already have almost everything from previous build) $250 to get it running and street tuning.

I would go p-maf air meter. The ford style one. Almost all the tuners who tune on your stock ms43 (or ms42) e46 dme will use this maf.

Do it once do it right. Or spend way more in the end. The p mas maf is in the 150$ range. Idk about the 350 maf? The vq nissan main studs will work for a m54 head stud for sure. ( look up spank ranch garage on youtube) as far as iron block into a m54 car... i just finished putting a s52 into a ms43 e39 car. Not sure if your building the m54b25 in your title or the m50 in your first paragraph?

I swapped from ms42 to ms43 for the bigger m54b30 t.b. drive by wire pedal, and a lot more options when it comes to tunes. I only had to swap 6 or 8 wires to change a 2000 ms42 car to a 2001 ms43 car. This may or may not be worth it to you. Theres more ms42 tune options these days. I dont regret going to ms43 one bit.
