Following my wife driving our X5. When she applied the brakes, not hard, all the brake lights came on. The body lights and the lift gate lights as well. Is Brake Force lighting an option? Are the brake lights working properly?

Brake force lighting is explained in the owners manual. You can see in the pics from the manual…that regular braking illuminates the outer lights (on the fender) and one of the brake light strips in the tailgate. Upon heavier braking..an additional light illuminates in the tailgate section (which is the rear fog light section in European markets).
If you have any coding software or app…you can code the brake force lights to flash on heavy braking.
