E36 M3 Strut Bar Tower Nut Dimension Measurement

My friend just bought the E36 M3 strut bar to install for E36. I found a similar nut online that might be OK for him.

Does anyone has a spare nut that you can help with the OD and H dimension shown below diagram?

    Very appreciated !

I would appreciate if someone can take measurement of their strut brace cap nut

Going to assume you are asking about the E36 but the title to the thread says E46.

Overall height is about 22.5 mm
Overall diameter is about 17.9 mm

Sorry for the typo, I already corrected.

Thank you Jim E and Braymond141 for the dimension, what about the smaller cylinder diameter and height?

What are you doing this for?

That design above is based on an original but modified for use for other strut bars. I’m doing a production run soon.

my friend just want to get cheap alternative since getting full set of six is nearly $50, but I guess nothing works for him
This type of nut is highly customized

Just buy them from BMW. It’s expensive but that’s because they cost a lot to produce.

Yep, just buy them. $66 in the grand scheme of things E36 isn't bad at all...lol That little octopus hose under the intake manifold? $108. A door seal? Good luck. Those little nuts are essential for doing what they do. Nothing else does the job, but they don't wear out, that's a plus.
No matter where you go, there you are...

Only the black paint, or whatever voodoo coating they have on them can wear off. Even touching them can leave some black 'stains' on your fingers.

The finish on mine looks like crap, with spots of surface rust on them. Is powder coating a good option for them?

No. Powdercoating scratches easy and will add too much bulk to the nut. They need to be black zinc, or black oxide coated.
