hello, so today I got my k+dcan cable and was checking around inpa. I got in navigation unit settings just checking around and pressed f1 button under activations (if I remember correctly), some thing with word .../mono/... the program started to load something and froze, so I closed inpa, turned the car off and now the only thing on head unit screen is- "software loading required! please insert a suitable CD-ROM." radio itself works, sound works but I cant do anything else.
I have a cd changer and under it MK4 navigation system with a DVD logo in the middle.
Here is a head unit that I have (found on ebay) https://www.ebay.com/itm/373813649850 and on the screen it's where it says "software loading required"
if there is nothing I can do I have thought about maybe switching out this head unit with buisiness class head unit, would it be just plug and play or do I need some adapters?
Should just need a reload of the system operating system. It's a very small OS that you load via the DVD drive in the trunk. You can buy the software online on a disc (here is an example: https://e39source.com/product/bmw-mk...re-update-disk). Or you can find many places to download it yourself and burn the file onto a CD.
Switching the OEM nav to a Business CD would require significant work, either a long adapter cable from the rear of the car to the front, or replacing the entire audio harness.
