For an S54 into an E36, one can't use the stock location/E36 coolant expansion tank.
So, I'm considering a generic aluminum expansion tank.
But none of them seem to have the same internal design as the E36 tank (chambers, internal pipe, etc).
How you folks hooking up generic expansion tanks?
Bottom hose on the generic tank goes where on the engine?
Top hose (not the pressure release outlet) goes where on the engine?
No bleed screw needed?
See picture, hose connections circled:

And before you say it, I don't want to move my battery, so can't use the E30 expansion tank.
The OEM E46 expansion tank is huge and messy.
It's just an expansion tank, you can literally use a Thermos bottle if you want. The Moroso E36 tank is just a generic overflow too that happens to have a shape that fits "like" stock.
Top hose goes in from the bleeder port of the radiator; bottom hose goes to the water pump inlet (return). Bleed screw is never needed at the expansion tank, the whole point of the flow coming out of the radiator is that it self-bleeds (the exit of the top hose should be above the water level inside the expansion tank).
Bottom of tank hose feeds the water pump inlet (back of timing cover on m5x ... forget where that is for s54?). Top return is the small hose from rad. That's how we have it for all our cars. If you mount it so the small line is higher that your rad/head, you'll have an easy time filling it. Assuming no thermostat (or dilled holes in it), just fill to the top, close, and go racing.
Or ........ what he said, lol
That was fast, you guys rock!
Thanks.
