Clutch Friction Point

I replaced all the clutch hydraulics last summer (slave cylinder failed) and all was well.
But recently I have noticed the friction point of the clutch is very near the top of the pedal travel. I do not know if the clutch has ever been replaced, but at 200,000 miles it might be time.

Is a high release point a symptom of a worn clutch disc?

It's been my experience that a high release is a sign of a worn clutch. If that's the original unit, 200K is a great lifespan for the M30, especially given the torque of our M30. It could also be a small bubble somewhere in the circuit though.

The clutch parts aren't that expensive nor difficult to replace, but it's getting to them that's the trouble. I'd definitely suggest resurfacing the flywheel while it's apart.

You might want to swap in a lightweight flywheel while you're in there, it made a really big difference to me. I used an old 633 single-mass flywheel, along with the matching clutch kit.
