Just curious if anyone has seen a conversion kit to install the coils and plugs off the B58 onto the M62?
How often are you all replacing yours?
2002 BMW Titanium Silver 540i/6-speed Sport - ZHP Shift Knob - M5 Clutch/TTV Racing 15.6lb Flywheel - M60 Intake Manifold - N62 84mm TB - Dinan Intake Tube - 4" MAF Tube - DUDMD Tune - Magnaflow Resonator - Eibach 18mm Rear Sway Bar - Powerflex Front Sway Bar Bushings - CDV Delete - UUC SS Brake Lines - Koni Yellow Shocks/Struts - Eibach Springs - Zionsville Radiator & FDM
Side note. The plugs between the B58 and the M62 are vastly different in height, but still possibly worth looking into.
Not sure why you are asking such a question. Just get new plugs and coils that are designed for the M62. There is no point to put in a plug designed for a 2015 Turbo 6, into a v8 that dates back to the early 00’s ( M60 )
Well physically fitment is only one issue, you can make any coil fit sure.
But you'd have to tune the ecu for different dwell times and battery voltage correction vs the m62 coils.
That's operating under the assumption that they still use a simple ground inpuse for activation.

I’m still using all the same coils my car came with 23 years ago.
Why do you want to do this?
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
That’s what the next owner of his car is going to say.
My factory Bremi coils started dying one by one around 90k miles, after 2 died I replaced all of them and haven't had any issues since.
There really isn't a reason to change to anything other than stock coils as long as the stock coils are easily available, which they are. (or if you're very gullible, red colored Dinan coils).
The red color dinan coils are cheaper then oem, wonder if they are junk.

The N54/N55 and B58 are turbocharged. The M62 is not. The design parameters and operating conditions are very different. Stick with what BMW tells us.
I have been thinking of using the Eldor coil used on the N engines
Here is a link to a conversion kit, but I am not sure what coil they are using

+1 20 years and 178,000 miles. I think.. they're original BMW coils and could have been changed by one of the six PO's.. but talking to three of them there was no hint they were changed. I do think preventing the coils from being stressed (cracked or bad boots, oil in the pits, cracked or bad wiring, poor supply voltages due maybe to a poor or dirty ground, just simple maintenance stuff.
A great ending is all you'll see..

I bit the bullet and bought the whole set for my E38. If it's Dinan I'd think they're good so that's why I installed them. Still haven't started the car since cylinder 2 had a helicoil situation from the previous owner's shop I am trying to fix. Going to hold onto my old coils just in case, but most were drenched in oil from the leaking valve cover gaskets so I'd assume it can effect the performance of the coil.
How did this go?
I'll double check later today, but I'm pretty positive to retrofit them on an M54 all you do is add rivnuts for the mount bolt and rewire the plugs for the B58 harness
B58 coils are a huge upgrade over stock but you are only really likely to notice a benefit if you have f/i
