My BMW dealer says they cannot get the parts anymore to fix my door locks. Here is their written comment. "Both front door locks just click but not unlock. Found central locking faults stored in general module. Performed test plan and found general module to be faulty. Part is no longer available. No repairs performed."
They told me to find a repair shop willing to try to monkey with the general module and get it working. I don't luck it anymore and can open the driver side door but not the passenger side or the gas cap lid.
Car is in great shape with only 55k miles and I don't want to sell it for parts.
Does anyone know such a shop in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles.

You might be able to have it repaired. Check out BBA Remanufacturing. http://www.bba-reman.com/us/catalogue/parts/361/
Too bad that BMW does not support their cars like Mercedes does.
Here is another useful website:

I believe this fellow is in your General area of CA. If so, he'll actually pull the GM5, repair it and then re-install it for you. He does very good work on repairing these gm5's.

I just worked with him on my lock problem and he did a great job with quick turnaround. I have an 03 z4 where my passenger door was fine, but I had to use the key to unlock the drivers door.
There is a lot on various forums about lock problems and if you visit his website, he lays out how to contact him. If he thinks he can help you, he'll get you to send him the module.
