Does anyone know the color code of the trunk area under the battery?

    Hi Gang,

I just was changing my battery for the redeye garage Optima conversion and saw some light rust. Id like to respray it (already did the rust treatment) and am wondering what color it is? (My car is a tecnoviolet, but for sure thats not the interior, its like a darkish gray)

    TIA

    Alex

The color is Schwarz. It's a Matte finish which will appear anthracite (charcoal, grayish, whatever your understanding is).

F2380 color code from the place I got mine from in 2005.

Was that changed in the 96 and later M3s? My ‘95 is the same color in the battery area as the rest of the car (Avus Blue).

Yes. Early cars had color matched jams/engine bay. Later cars had black trunk jams, and engine bay.

When and where BMW did this is better refined by them. Meaning, it's not weird... it's just the way they are and they'll never give out details on which cars had what.

a 1997 318ti has completely color matched wheel wells and underside. A considerably more expensive M3 does not (though some do have fully matched wheel wells).

There are plenty of things that do not make sense.

Wnat does your paint sticker under the hood list as base color? Does it say Violet instead of Schwarz?

That is pretty interesting. So they changed the base color for Techno Violet from white to black.

That doesn’t exist afaik. I think he’s confused and can almost guarantee his car is AW.

Ah yes, the way he wrote his post made me think his is TV, but reading it again, could be any color.

It also doesn’t make any sense. If anyone had TV with colormatched base paint, the base paint should be ‘some’ violet.
