Engine serial number -> VIN

Can I get a VIN ofthe car when I have only the engine serial number? I bought a carwith a replaced engine. I don't know what the mileage is in thesecond engine. I only have his number. If I could find out VIN, Iwould know what the real engine mileage can be.

On a M/S5X (E36) there was a VIN sticker on the back side of the head….

please complete your profile with exact model, engine, built year/month, visit the local BMW dealer, based on the engine serial number he probably can get the car VIN where the engine comes from. But it depends on the built year/model probably, BMW 5 can mean anything between 1972 - now, in 1972 they did not have any computers and there it is more difficult to get info
