    M54b22 running rich

Hello guys, so I'm new here.
I have e46 m54b22 and I didn't get car on road by inspection because it's running to rich.
Car drives normally but sometimes I can feel gasoline smell in interior. No foulty codes and anything. In inspection I get 3 reading --
    CO(%) on idle 0,130
    CO(%) on trottle 0.030
And CH(ppm) 122 which shoud be under 100

    So my question is!
What could couse this to happen. Maybe some of you had the same problem?

Does the engine reach operating temperature fully? A thermostat stuck open will make it very hard for the engine to reach warm levels.
Also your inspection should be with a very hot exhaust system. If the car waited in the parking lot for a while and cooled down, then it will have problems on emissions if tested cold.

Gasoline smell in the interior is concerning.
I would read live data and especially what the adaptations are like.

Car was siting outside in cold winter for abouth 3 months before I went to inspection. Inspection centre was like 15km away. Engine did get to proper operating temperature fully. And yes I did wait outside for like 20 minutes but engine was in idle and outside was -5 Celsius that day. Maybe exhaust wasn't warm enough.

Okei, I will test live data. Tnx

I agree with everything Abel has told you; but I would like to add:

90% of the time customers tell me they smell gas, they're actually smelling the oil burning off the exhaust, from a valve cover leak.

A very dirty air filter can cause a rich mixture.
Absolutely, if you wait in line for 20 minutes at below-freezing temperatures, you need to start revving the engine when you're next in line. Just keep it at about 2000 or 2500 rpm for the last few minutes before your turn.

I experienced this bit because I failed a European emissions test in the same way, on a very cold day, a few years ago.
