What i need to do to a 328i to run M3 Auto

Im looking to run an M3 auto in my 328i, what do i need to make that happen? I want all of the functions of the M3, and i heard that i have to swap out the entire interior harness. No this car will not be a manual car, and No, im not keeping the partout M3.

It is not straightforward since the M3 auto has a different trans and ECU and diff, but is a step up from the 4 speed you have. The parts car will make this easier.

For the body harness questions you will need to compare what additional wires the ZF auto has over the GM/BMW auto. I think the auto/manual/sport switch of the M3 ZF should have one more wire over the auto/manual switch of the 328 GM/BMW. Look through the factory ETM for the engine(x20) transmission(x69) and the ABS/ASC(xsomething)to the body connectors to see if any pins need to be move and what would need to be added.

It is very easy to de-pin the harnesses and move/add wires. I put an ODB2 engine harness in and an ODB1 body and most of the wires locations were the same.

I’ve done this, have to use m3 auto harness as 328i auto harness is different. I have everything you need including dinan tune for trans. Recently manually swapped the car so all parts are off
