    Vanos Valve/Solenoid removal

Seen some different names for it, the vanos valve. Seen where it's called a solenoid. The center bolt that goes through the gear or camshaft adjusting unit. Has anyone removed one? Have the instructions but in it, it says to remove the gear also. Just wondering if the cams are already locked in, why remove it when I'm just removing the valve.

Yes, for the N20 you will need to remove the valve cover and use the required timing tools to setup the cam timing if this bolt is removed. If you do not have the required cam tools do not release the central bolt/vanos solenoid.
