P0174 on 2016 BMW750xi

Hello,

I am the owner of a 2016 750XI which I really like. However; that being said, this car lives up to the acronym joke (BMW = Break My Wallet). The dealer in Shrewsbury MA is brutal when it comes to maintenance costs. THis code scares me because it can take you in so many directions when it comes to diagnosing and repairing the issue.

A bit about me:
I used to own a 2008 BMW 535I and really liked working on it. I am not a seasoned mechanic but while I had this car managed to replace plugs, brakes, rotors, oil, wiring harnesses, and headlights.

When I look at the Bi-Turbo V8 under this hood, I get intimidated.

I wanted to know if anyone has any ideas on how to address and fix the P0174 emissions issue. Generally I understand what to check. The larger issue to me is where are the components located that can cause this code.

Ideally, I wish I could locate a BMW group in MA that I could learn from.

Anyway, I appreciate any input from the forum. People here are awesome and willing to give a lot of help when needed.

First things first, you should get a code reading with a tool capable of reading BMW manufacturer codes. P codes are too basic and can be vague.
Next, a code reader that gives you the environment data when the code happens and then the conditions under which it happened will be a lot more useful. Third, having the capability to read live values will be a huge plus.
