    Hole purpose in brake air duct

    Hi.

    Does anybody know the purpose of the big hole in the brake air duct shown in the picture ( the below one) ?

    1991 850i (Servotronic - EDC - ASC-T - AHK - Alpina rims)

    It's for the ambient temperature sensor - mine is a large housing that clips in the large hole

    Its for the temp sensor.
    Btw, does anyone has a spare right duct? (pass. side in US)

    Ok so the big hole on brake air duct ( located on the right side of the car) need to be filled ?

    I don't think it serves a purpose - unless it supplies air to something that sits above the hole? I would put a vinyl sticker to cover from the inside if you want to close it - just in case you need to remove it at some point?

    Possibly it is a RHD/LHD thing - but mine had this fella in there, probably the ambient sensor:

    All right air duct picture on the web shows the same hole.On realoem, it doesn't seems to have something connected to it neither.

    I will cover it as you suggested.

    Left, the small one, is indeed an ambient temp sensor (65811383204). Connected to EKM, that is the temp we see on MID.
    Right, large round thing that looks like a plug (61318357632) is thermal switch for heated spraying nozzles.

    Thanks for all these informations. This thermal switch for heated spraying nozzles is also missing on my car. I probably found where it should be connected.
    I found a free plug near the expansion tank (currently removed on the picture below)
    1991 850i (Servotronic - EDC - ASC-T - AHK - Alpina rims)
