Hi everyone, Hoping to get some help from anyone about manual conversion. I got a older model Getrag 260 with a metal shifter plate not the aluminum shifter carrier. Anyone know how to mount rear part of the the metal shifter plate to the tunnel or any bracket that I can mount to the transmission so I can use the newer style aluminum shifter? Any info or comment is really appreciated. Thank You
The E30 M3 had a bracket to adapt an early transmission to the late shifter carrier, but it isn't a bolt-on fit. There has to be someone that sells those for the G260 by now.
Thanks for the reply hotdish. I was hoping someone also fabricated a bracket or an adapter for this also by now. I guess not enough market for it. But if I cant find a solution for it I'll just go with a floor mounted shifter from garagistics. Just trying to convert this on a budget. I got a good deal on the swap thats why i bought this.
check your manual trans. if there is the two "bunny ears" at the top it'll convert without the m3 bracket. a lot of them came with both the ears and the older style plate. transition began in the 85 - 86 model years.
you still need everything else from the later shifter. bitch clip, shifter knuckle, rear mount. the m3 bracket might negate some of that.
unfortunately the one I got doesn't have the bunny ears

Looks like you'll need parts #2-6 with the bracket being #5. The #3 bolts are probably already part of your transmission. The bracket is PN 25112225369 and depending on where you source it can be had for $15-25.
