    CAN-Bus Error and DME Shorts

Hey everyone, didn't seem to find my exact issue anywhere on the net and thought i was gonna try my luck here.

My high mileage E39 530d suddenly turned off while driving and showed "Injection" in the cluster, and didnt want to turn back on for a solid day.
It cranked fine and all pumps were running. Checked fuses in the ECU compartment, all were fine, plugged them back in and suddenly the car started.

The problem now is that it wont get out of transmission failsafe mode and has current faults with all the DME related stuff like EGR, MAF, Swirl Flaps, Glow Plugs, Rail Pressure Valve and a CAN-Bus EGS no communication fault.

The before mentioned Injection fault in the cluster is gone.

All help and leads are greatly appreciated, I already checked the grounds and fuses under the passenger Floormat, they were a bit rusty but not problematic, so i took some contact cleaner and a wirebrush to clean them off.

My knowledge of the oil burning variants is nil but I do know that low voltage will cause all sorts strange behavior. Is your battery strong?

If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue

Yes very strong, even charged the battery over night to confirm its not voltage related.

Loose electric connection or short between the ECU and the rest of the car.

So I kept looking at wires and connectors and theres literally notging wrong with any of those. I wen back into the ECU compartment in the engine bay, and yea,
FUSE EF4 is blown. Theres only the main source powercable on there and a thick red/white cable which i cant trace 100%
Only the top 3 fuses are in use on the car so AFAIK its F3 F4 and F5.

Anyone got a lead for me where i can find the issue?
