I have a 1990 BMW E30 325i 4 door sedan. A year ago I posted a thread to get inputs on a new muffler. At that time, many suppliers were out of stock and I did not want to have to spend "a ton of money", so I procrastinated.
Now I must get a new muffler and the choices seem to be less than a year ago. My current muffler is a Bosal and one of the tail pipes just dropped off due to rust at the joint to the main muffler body. The main body and pipes look fine, but the two tail pipes had rust at their joints to the muffler body.
I really need to get a muffler now! I've seen Walker, Starla, API and some other names. The Starla's look like bad workmanship. I'm not familiar with the other brands, so I need help.
Also, I wondered if cutting the pipes in front of the muffler body and clamping a new "muffler only" to the pipes was possible (bad idea???).
I'm looking for advice for currently available mufflers for 1990 BMW E30 325i.
Any and all advice will be appreciated ...
How about going to a muffler shop and getting your tips or new tips welded back on? Old time muffler shops are pretty good at fabricating things up.
I have a Walker on for 5 years. I see both it and the AP have lifetime warranties. It came from Rock Auto and apparently from looking at the order on their website, it is still under warranty.
I had an ANSA, it only lasted 3 years.
Try eBay if you haven't looked already.
Usual suspects are ANSA Walker - I run a Scorpion - but those arent here any more.. BAVAUTO was the dealer at the time.. (RIP)
I like stainless steel - bought a cheap ebay chinese stainless 8 years ago for my cabrio - still no issues..
Starla $200 - States "In Stock" - ECS tuning - reputable

Thanks for your inputs ... Very Helpful. I went to RockAuto and decided to buy Walker there. I'll provide an update after I receive my order.
