Does this gear box fit my car

I’m having trouble looking for a manual 5 speed for my 1995 e34 530i and I can’t find if the S5D 310Z-THDG fits my M60, even if it does I can’t find any place to buy one. Can someone help me?

Yes, the THDG appears to be one of at least two V8 versions of that box (THDY is another). While the internals are shared with the far more common L6 versions of the S5D 310 and 320Z, the (integrated, not removable or replaceable) bellhousing is specific to the V8. This transmission was only sold (in the US) on 1993-1995 530iM, making it rather rare. They rarely go bad, though; why do you need one? If you have an automatic and are looking to swap to a manual, I suggest you forget the 5-speed and look for a 6-speed S6S-420G-V8 instead. Apart from a negligible weight penalty and minor worsening of shift feel, it's a superior transmission to the 5- in every way, not the least of which is availability; they were fitted to E34 540iM, E39 540iM, and E39 M5 and are much easier to find.

Thanks for the helpful information, and yea i need one to do a manual swap in the future as soon as i figure out the other issues, (blue smoke, coolant leak, rough start, and oil leak) but til then i’ll be looking at these transmissions for the future
