i assume the float in the brake/clutch reservoir and the wires coming off the reservoir cap are for a level sensor?
i was bleeding the clutch, and i guess i was a little too vigorous moving the cap around: i pulled the cap electrical plug right off its wires.
no big deal, i know there's fluid in there as i just flushed and bled it, and i can repair the connector tomorrow...
but why am i getting no warning lights in the dash?
is this in fact a level sensor?

Yes, the bottom of the cap is a level sensor.
If the wires were pulled off the sensor, the circuit will be interrupted to trigger the brake light on the dash.
