I own a 2002 BMW 745i. Original owner. The key fob will not stay in the ignition so I can't start the vehicle. I only have one fob. The key fob will not open doors either; however, the actual physical key opens the door. I have not been able to find any solutions on this forum or others. I understand that the key fob is self-charging. It is possible to pry open the fob and replace the battery, but this looks like a production and above my pay grade. Do I need to replace the fob? I also understand that the issue might be related to a down fuse for the circuit that controls the door opening. This would not explain, I think, the failure of the fob to stay in the ignition. Any guidance would be most appreciated.
