This is a really weird one.. Yesterday I was in stuck in traffic for 4 hours due to a major accident. Finally, things started to move and I was crawling along at a whopping 3 mph.. then of course it slowed back down.. I pressed the brake and my car slowed to 0 mph and should have been stopped.. no! It kept creeping forward with the speed showing 0 mph! I’m pressing the brake pedal and NOTHING is happening. It would not stop! It kept rolling forward…until I hit the back of the semi in front of me. NONE of my sensors went off during this incident- lane assist or that something was close to me, NOTHING. Completely freaked me out because I can’t understand what/how/why this happened. Absolutely love my car but this has me a little afraid of it doing this again..
Take it to the dealer as it’s under warranty. BMW is liable for the damage to your car if the dealer finds a brake system fault.
is it possible you were going zero, and semi rolled back into you? i have had the idea my car was rolling forward when in fact cars beside me were rolling back a little.
I've seen locking torque convertor o/d trannys do this, the engine will actually stall out if you brake hard enough, like on a manual tranny.,not sure if a BMW tranny works that way..
