I'd like to adjust the spring on the trunk lid of my 2007 530i so it doesn't fly up so aggressively when I hit the release button in the driver's footwell. If I'm outside the car, I simply hit the key-fob then catch the trunk lid with my hand before it pops all the way open.
The driver's side spring appears to allow for it to be slotted into several different notches which I assume adjusts the tension. Has anyone ever made this adjustment and how did you go about it without injuring yourself or your vehicle? It seems like the spring is very tight and will not succumb to pulling it with my hands/arms. Also, how many notches did you move the spring back to reach a comfortable opening tension?
Any advice from someone who's done it would be appreciated.
Thanks
