Hello all,
I have a 1990 BMW E30 325i that I am putting a M62B44 into. I have purchased the motor and it is out of a 1998 BMW 540i. I was wondering if anywone can inform me about some wiring. I have the 5 plug DME and it has four of the five plugs plugged in. It is missing plug #4 (X6004). Does anyone know where this plug might usually be located on the car and what it runs to? And if it is supposed to be in with the engine wiring harness?
That's the chassis side plug. It communicates with the gauge cluster and also receives info fr the chassis for things like speed signal
I just wanted to alert you (in case you hadn't come across this before) about these manuals. They may be useful to you in your journey: http://www.wedophones.com/Manuals/BMW/
Diving in at the shallow end!
Nevermind, upon further research I found out that the condor speed shop wiring harness will have the connection built into it and conver it to the e30 chassis system
Without that plug you'd never have a way to even start the engine, the start signal comes from the chassis, as do many other critical signals. But yes, the adapter harness provides that plug. In fact, that's pretty much the sole purpose of the conversion harness. It just takes signals from wherever they currently are on the car (like the round plug) and runs them to the correct location on the X60004.
