Hi, i have a e39 2001 2.5d and yesterday i was changing the heater blower motor and tried turning the ignition on to check if it works, it was working fine so i turned the key off and put on the cover that covers the blower motor, then i tried turning the key again just to be sure that it works before putting the whole dashboard back together and out of nowhere my dashboard lights were blinking and the car wouldn't start, front lights were also blinking, does anyone have any idea what could it be? I thought it could be the battery dying or something so i connected the battery to my friends car with jumper cables and waited for a few minutes, then tried, but still nothing changed..
made a small video so you could see

EDIT: It was the battery, i changed it and everything is fine.

Oh boy, my go to response with electrical gremlins is ignition switch. Maybe see if you can pull the switch out and clean the contacts.
