I ordered a 2 pin pigtail harness for the walbro pickup pump to solder in correctly to the fuel pump assembly, parts should get here today!
Freaking excited to start driving this thing after having it sit for 2 weeks in the garage haha

    She lives!!!
Soldering the new pigtail to the fuel pump assembly was a pain in the ass, the ground was easy to do but the positive lead not so much, here’s to hoping it holds until I have to figure something else out or just bite the bullet and order and oem one from Germany
    Onto ze pics

Got it back in without messing up the solder joints

    Aligning pigtail replacement

    Soldered

Time test it out around some corners (jk)

    Look ma, no more leaks!

I might try my luck and drive it to work tomorrow

Somebody needs some soldering flux. That green wire looks like you could pull it apart. I'm just being critical since I spend time restoring vintage stereo gear and am amazed at how a small drop of flux makes tinning wires quick and easy. The solder flows up the wire following the flux moving away from the heat. If it won't pull apart you are probably gonna be just fine with that connection.

Glad it is getting back together.

Hell yeah, I didn't realize I had gotten low, I scraped the tin and used it for the assembly portion to make life a little easier but I ran out once I got to the harness in the trunk. I did tug on it a little bit, felt solid surprisingly, I hope it holds XD

And heck yeah, same here - I've been itching to drive it!
next up I'm planning on finally trying to restore the paint, there's some weird spots on both left and right rear doors, like a splotch or something - I'm wondering if those spots are going to be trouble areas once I start buffing there
I'll post up some pics below of said areas

My E28 is white, my E23 is gazellenbeige. I like the look of the white E23. Many prefer the dark colors, more limo-like color, more sinister, the dark metallic gray and black as well as the non-met black.

Man I sure do Love the White! Looks good.

I did the walboro pump conversion and removed the non tank pump.

I spent a month or two replacing the wiring blowing out fuel likes, replacing the regulator..... pretty much everything to get rid of the hesitation issue that just popped up intermitantly.

I cut the fuelpump housing pipe and braised in the proper size nipple and used proper injector ratedn in tank fuel line to connect the pump and the housing and the problem disapeared.

The rubber step up hose in the tank just doesnt work. It gets holes and blows out eventually.

So glad to have it solved!
