    E36 LTW Spoiler Carbon Skinning

Recently got an ABS Ltw spoiler and can definitely understand the flexing issues that people have had going 75+. Thinking about trying to do the carbon fiber skinning process to see if it adds any rigidity. Should only add a ~2mm layer all around and wouldn’t be on the joints. Interested to hear any thoughts/tips if anyone has tried before.

Some users have also put some expanding foam in the cavity of the spoiler to make it more rigid. However, some have added too much that it caused waves on the finished surface.

What spoiler did you get? Or I guess who did you buy from?

I got a Driftshop wing and it's rock solid well past 100 (on track of course). It's fiberglass. Your time and money may be better spent on a different wing that doesn't have the issues. I don't imagine it's cheap or easy to add a carbon fiber skin unless you're already a fiberglassing wizard.

adding carbon shouldn't be too complicated... sheets of carbon or fiberglass, resin, hardener etc. a bit of sanding to smooth things out. It's not too complex when we're talking about a standard wet layup. Lots of YT videos out there show the process.

Did driftshop ship to you directly or do they have an office in the US?

No, I think it came from France directly or wherever. But this was probably 2 years ago now...
