    Lights and fob not working.

    Hello all,

I am new to the forum and i have a question that you may be able to help with. I have one high beam out, opposite side low beam is out, one fog light, one front signal light, the opposite rear signal light and a brake light out. All windows work normally. The key fob also stopped working to open the doors when the lights went out.

I had a fella try to repair the FRM remotely but it has the dreaded 9CAA error that i cant seem to find an answer for. I also tried a brand new FRM with no luck, I did code it to the car with WINKPF and Tool 32. The new module allows the signal lights to work but the windows will not function.

I tried replacing the battery in the fob (non CA), no success. The car does start with the fob but the doors or boot will not open.

The only information I can find with regards to the 9CAA fault leads me back to terminal 30. I changed the battery and registered it to the car, also to no avail.

I am leaning to towards a problem with the CAS module but it is not throwing any faults with INPA.

ANY suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thx for taking the time to read my post. The car is a 2007 323i, E90 LCI.

I always get a sunken stomach when I read that phrase, "I had a fella try to repair [xxx]". Without knowing what exactly was messed with, it often leaves the car in worse shape.
The true FRM repair for corrupted data is not done remotely, it's done on bench with chip reading / writing tools. So I have no idea what the fella did.

WinKFP does not code, it flashes. Tool32 is not for coding either (there's a much larger discussion on what Tool32 can do, but not for here). What you should try on the new FRM is default coding with NCS Expert. This applies all the settings to the FRM that it needs to know what car it has been installed to.

If the new FRM still has the 9CAA error "terminal 30B connection faulty" then you should run through wiring diagrams to identify where terminal 30B comes from, which should be the junction box and the fuses/relays involved there. If the fuses weren't checked, then I'd suggest you do that. The fuses should all be supplied with +12V and be unburned.
