E61 LCI Ash tray/heated seat panel removal

Hi, first time owning a BMW. I’m used to Skodas so this is all new 🤣 was wondering if anyone knew how to remove the panel underneath the radio that has the ash tray/ heated seat buttons on. I got the car and the panel was broken, the top of the panel is missing. I bought a new panel from a dealer and can’t seem to get it in it just doesn’t seem to fit. Seems to be hitting the bottom lip of the ash tray and not sure if radio etc needs to come out as the top half of the panel was broken so not sure how to get a new one in! Appreciate any help thanks
