I have a 2001 325i with 128,000 miles automatic transmission. When I first started driving there are no issues. However, if I stop at a store and turn off the car, I'll have an occasional slow start and the car will stall when I press the throttle pedal. I've replaced the fuel filter and I have replaced the plugs and ignition coils. Has anyone experienced this issue and what was the diagnosis? Thanks in advance!!
The first step in diagnosing a problem is to scan the car’s computers for codes. The Service Engine Soon light is on only when an emissions related code is present.
Sadly, I believe you are throwing good parts and hoping to hit a home run. The good thing is that these parts should be changed eventually, and you may have changed them early. I recommend saving the old coils
as I am certain this is NOT your issue and they are fine and I would keep one in the trunk always.
I cannot tell as I need more information, but it may now time to clean the AIR IDLE CONTROL VALVE below the throttle body. If gets stuck when old and dirty. I would allocate some time and get it out, clean it, lubricate it
and put it in again. I suspect it works, but test it (somehow). It could stick open and allow unregulated air in the engine causing it to crap out. PS: getting to this valvel is ugly, but a great chance to clean the throttle body,
MAF sensor(be careful), and check all crusty vacuum lines sine you are in there.
