Hello, can't find if anyone specially has done this in an e34 yet. Plenty popular for the e30 crowd though..
I blew my m20 engine and just picked up an m50 from another e34 with full harness and everything for 200 bucks. Only missing the intake. 🙃
Either way it was a good deal and I'm talking to someone that has an intake they'll let go of for a good price.
Anyways the car originally has the g260 in it, and I can't find any sources of anyone having a m50/g260 combo in an e34.
I know this will rotate it 10 degrees and I'll need to get a new/make a new/ modify the ssr I currently have to make the shifter re align.
The only other thing I can't seem to figure out is if I'll need a shorter driveshaft? The m50 came out of an auto car and it was set pretty far back in the engine bay compared to an m20 with manual. I'm not sure where the m50 sits if it was originally manual.
Also need to make sure I grabbed all the needed wiring. I have dme, and the entire harness that is connected to.
Thanks. Can't wait to get the car going again.

Also.. I'm not against finding a 6 speed for it. But I'd rather get it going with what I have now and keep price down as much as I can.
I've had a customer's car that was an m50 car kind of poorly manual swapped at some point with a m20 g260. Just like e30 people do, you'll have to cut and re-weld all the shifter things around 10 degrees to make it sit right and either fabricate a transmission crossmember or get crafty with the mounts. If the m20 just needs headwork or something not-bottom-end, I'd just fix the m20 personally over going through all the swapping. Hopefully the new engine has accessories and whatnot because all that adds up.

That's kind of what I figured also it'd be like the e30s but for this chassis.
Rings are gone in two cylinders and two cylinders have decent scoring down them. At 240k miles and the way I beat on it, it was time.
Fully dressed engine. With harness and dme. From another e34 so it should be pretty much plug and play.
Just saw someone somewhat local has a s6-37 out of a 2004 x3 manual. Pretty sure that should bolt up? Good price too
its gonna be easier and likely cheaper to just source a zf310 swap. I keep thinking of dct swap but the whole custom driveshaft thing has me bummed
But also I'm sure I'd need a different driveshaft.
