Hi there,
I'm with a 2014 X5 F15 N63 engine, we replaced the valve seal rings and after that some timing faults apeared. A minute or two after the engine starts (cold or hot, doesn´t matter), it goes into limp mode and the scanner shows the following codes:
130504 - VANOS intake valve bank 2: regulation defect / position not reached
120408 - turbo pressure regulation: deactivation as consecutive reaction
120908 - turbo pressure regulation 2: deactivation as consecutive reaction
We already re-checked the timing chain twice with precision tool, the Vanos solenoids (cleaned, actuation test, swapped position between banks and intake/exhaust), adjustment timing gears locked in position for timing position, camshaft sensors (swapped position), vacuum pump, turbos, air leak with smoke machine, valvetronic position, and everything is ok.
Spark plugs and ignition coils are all fine. We found some misbalance between fuel injectors and changed to new ones, just in case. No luck.
Also I have done all the adaptive values reset, relearn of valvetronic, vanos, adaptive values...
Problem solved. When we assembled the engine back into the car, we plugged both VANOS and the canister connector in the wrong order.
That's why the timming faults appeared.
