Hello,
I have a 2007 335i. I thought it was running fine, but I drove home a couple weeks ago and now it won't start. I got several internal ECU errors, so I pulled the ECU and tested the MOSFETs. Cyl 1 is bad- one side is 4 ohms, center is zero (as it is supposed to be), and other side is 22 ohms. Clearly shorted. Cylinders 4 and 6 show open on both sides and shorted in the center, which means those two are good. But the other three, Cyl 2, 3, and 5, show 4 megaohms on one side and 22 megaohms on the other. That's a lot of resistance, but still not reading "OPEN" with my meter.
With only one MOSFET for sure out, would that cause the car not to start? I can get a cylinder or two to fire for just a second but then it just cranks. I'm pretty sure the computer is not firing the coils. Has anyone had one for sure bad MOSFET cause the engine not to even fire? I've heard of misfires, but my engine refuses to start, or even try.
Codes are:
2E34- DME: Fuel injector, cylinder 5 activation
2E35- DME: Fuel injector, cylinder 6 activation
30BA - DME: Injectors 1, 2, 3, or DME Internal Fault
See if it will start and run for a few seconds on starting fluid or carb cleaner.
