Hi all,
I am planning to purchase a 335i xDrive Sedan 6MT with 99k miles on it this weekend. I know there are quite a few preventative maintenance items that need to be taken care of in order to have a reliable car. My plan for the car is to modestly tune, will likely keep it under 400 whp and only plan to put about 2-3k miles per year on it as a second car. Below are some of the maintenance items that have already been completed.
Preventative Maintenance Completed:
- ECU checked/reprogrammed: 24k
- Turbo/Intercooler serviced: 31k
- Brake fluid flush: 42k
- Spark Plugs replaced: 48k and 93k
- Drive belts replaced: 74k
- A/C compressor replaced: 74k
- Radiator hose replaced: 74k
- Drive belt and tensioner Pulley replaced: 74k
- Idler Pulley replaced: 74k
Looks like a lot of the scheduled maintenance intervals have been completed. Planning to do Water pump, intake filters, clean intercooler, fluids, head cover gaskets, oil pan/filter gaskets, and HPFP in year 1. Id like to get all of the preventative maintenance done in year 1 before even thinking about tuning it. Anything else i should look at right away??
I appreciate any feedback and cannot wait to be a part of the Bimmer community!
Cheers,
Kyle
Quick update, ended up getting a different 335i as the original one had been tuned and needed some work.
Ended up getting an interesting car. A Montego Blue 2009 335i Xdrive E90 6MT with 89k miles that was originally made for the German Domestic Market and spent its first 9 years of life just outside of Stuttgart. It was then imported to the US in 2018 where it spent the next 4 years in North Florida.
It came with a full book of service records dating back to the day of sale, including all service records from Germany and looks to have had all major maintenance done at BMW dealerships and in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
Looking forward to getting to know this car and its many intricacies with the help of you all!
Kyle
