anyone know how? I've had two tuners(rk tunes, 22rpd) tell me they cannot bypass CEL p1145 for the running loss valve. I would like to use a resistor in place of the valve.
why do i need to bypass this valve? when motor-swapping e30's, the running loss valve is not needed. The DME stores code 1145 unless the valve is plugged in. Also, the part is NLA and I would prefer wiring in a resistor versus going to the junkyard.
Just plug the harness into the valve and put it anywhere it will fit. Cut down the ports on the valve if you need to minimize the size. I use an Aeromotive 13109 with a cut down stock regulator bypassed but plugged into the harness and no CEL or issues. Set the aftermarket regulator to 51-52 with the vacuum/boost line disconnected and then check to see that it pulls pressure down to 43-44 with around 20” vacuum and that it rises with boost if you are boosted. Mityvac works for this testing. If you don’t have a valve and are trying to avoid getting one, I can’t help you but you are probably right that a fixed resistor would work.

Thank you for confirming I should be able to use a resistor.
The motor swap cars I've done in the past I have the running loss valve mounted under the intake manifold, bypassed but the electrical plugged in to keep the CEL away. I have a couple more swaps lined up and I'm really hoping i can use a resistor instead of sourcing old parts.
I wish I knew more about electrical, I'm sure there is a way to determine what resistor I need. I'll try to do some more searching on determining resistor values
One source I read says the valve is open for 20 seconds on startup and then closes to make the system operate like a dead head non return system. Maybe the CEL is triggered only if the valve does not close. If so I would think you could just measure resistance on a valve after 20 seconds. But if the ECU check is more complicated then a resistor won’t work.
Can you please provide which ECU?
And which engine for that matter?

thanks in advance for any info
thanks for clarifying.
the info is maybe not out there because it is a total no brainer if you know how to tune with RR. I wish i had the time to play around with that stuff and figure it out, but unfortunately, I don't.
I don't know why the two tuners I've used can't just tune it out. I've had them both do reflashes for me and both tuners and both reflashes still had the DTC for running loss valve.
