    My new E34

Just picked up my first E34 today. She needs some work but runs strong. If anyone has some suggestions on replacement exhausts, that would be appreciated.
    Thanks

That looks nice! Alpine on black is dear to my heart.

Which parts of the exhaust need replacement? Looking to replace rusty parts with close to OEM sound, or looking for more growl?

Thanks! It appears that from the center muffler on back is pretty rusty, and in two pieces. Some growl would be a nice upgrade. I am having a hard time locating much more than the magnaflow on the usual spots; FCP,ECS, Ebay, Bimmerworld, Pelican. I was also considering straight pipes from the cat back but thought that might be too loud.

I found this video of a center resonator delete to magnaflow rear muffler. Does not sound too bad to me; seriously considering this option. Trying to slap some brake pads on this so I can run it to a nearby muffler guy and see what can be salvaged. Found that Billy Boat makes a decent setup by a bit pricey.

I'd try to keep the center muffler, you can straight pipe after if you like without it being excessively loud. Even with the factory cats in place, straight pipe after the cats (no center muffler) is well over 90dB.

Here is what I am dealing with. Going to take it to a local muffler shop and see if they can weld any of this back together. My guess is no but will give me an idea of my options.

So I took the E34 to a local muffler shop; The Muffler Man in Monroe for those in SE MI. Dan, who I believe was the (or one of) the owners said that he would not be able to salvage the center resonator so we agreed on the straight pipes to the rear muffler. The result was better and quieter than expected. I will try to get some sound clips tomorrow but he did send me a pic of it on the lift. He also patched a hole in the front near the cat. I am really happy with the result.

Indeed, really pleased. Not too bad price wise at a little over $300

Thanks. Plan is to restore and keep. She is need of maintenance and upkeep; has a lot of little things going on. Unfortunately weather is getting colder here so many things might need to wait till next season.

Turns out the interior was originally blue but PO dyed (not very well either) the carpet, door cards and maybe the seats, black. Now I have to decide whether to undo the changes or move forward on the black and blue theme.
