Thread: No crank no start

    No crank no start

    2008 BMW x3 would not Crack after I came out of store I can hear 2 clicks from the engine bay when I try to start but that's it can anyone help also the ignition switch has been changed to no avail AAA tried to jump it before towing but still nothing all dash lights come on window rolls down unlock lock works key is synced to vehicle car beeps when key is in ignition and door open at this point I'm lost only other thing I can think it to be is the starter can someone help

    Does your 08 have the N52 engine?

    Sounds like braided ground straps need replacement and add an additional one as well...thats my two cents of experience.

    I get where your thinking is here. Bad ground can prevent the starter from getting enough current (amps) even if it has enough volts. I had a car do this once when the battery ground cable's chassis connection was loose.

    To the OP, it's a good idea to check the battery connections, battery ground, and engine ground straps. To be honest though, considering how suddenly it went out it's probably the starter.

    The first thing that should be done is load testing the battery before falling further down the diagnostic tree. Nothing on this car should be guesswork.
