Sourcing rear BMW Genuine muffler for an 86 635csi USA spec

Anyone know any method of sourcing a USA spec Genuine BMW rear muffler assembly for a 1986? Its PN# 18121178263. Its not NLA but its also not available...

Also, I am considering purchasing the euro spec part and welding on the proper tailpipe braket to make it fit a USA car as the part does seem to be available and is selling for less than half the list price of the seemingly unavailable USA spec part. I'm not sure if that's a workable solution, though. From pictures/diagrams it looks like the euro part should fit the underbody cavity and its mostly just missing the end-pipe bracket that the USA spec part has, but I'm wondering if anyone can confirm if what I'm thinking of trying is possible. Thanks!

If your not going for judging points @ any of the National clubs, and if you want to fabricate guess the answer would be no. Then at half price I recommend this

I've had this system for 10 years plus, no droning, no rust, no hassle fitting.

I have a rear section from an '88 that is serviceable and the price would be right. The tips are in good shape, the muffler has been patched up once. The pipes are in great shape.

It is by far the heaviest exhaust system ive ever seen. If the IE system is 20 lbs lighter and flows better, its worth it if you want a stock-like vibe.

The aftermarket options are IE and BillyBoat. BillyBoat is supposedly a bit loud. Everyone seems happy with IE and I have an IE system I bought years ago in anticipation of your issue. Ansa and Bosal used to make parts too but I have not seen those in years.

The 2 piece Bosal was made by Apex Emissions. When I spoke to them they had no stock anymore.

For the time being I've patched up the Genuine muffler, but will probably either modify a euro to fit, or keep checking on availability of the USA spec genuine part. I've watched some youtube videos on IE, Billy Boat and the rest. I was considering Supersprint. Any comments on their product?
