OK, I recently purchased a 2016 M2. Love it, but why do I have to turn it off twice?
When I come to a stop, I put it in first, pull handbrake, press the ignition button, and release clutch. Engine goes off, but the radio stays on. I figure, "fine, that will go off when I open the door." Pull handle, but door is locked. I pull it again and it opens. I get out, yes with key in hand, and close door, but radio is still on. I walk away and come back 5 minutes later and it is still on. I hit lock on the key fob, locks and radio goes off. Try it again after a drive. Same sequence, stop, brake, off, and clutch. Engine is off but radio is on. Hit ignition again (again clutch is out) and it turns off.
What am I doing wrong. I read the manual like five times and I cannot figure it out. Feel free to flame me here, I know I am just being a moron....
I assume it provides the courtesy of allowing you to listen to your fav tunes without having the engine running.
Since it is a recent purchase, I would visit the dealership and ask for an explanation from your salesman or service advisor.
Nicely of course.
I believe the radio will operate for a period of time as a courtesy, or until vehicle is locked.
I also believe that function can be coded out, but why? No music unless engine running!
Thanks, that helps. It just seemed weird it kept going for 5 minutes. I was worried it would run the battery down. I'll try swinging by the dealer and asking. Maybe I just need to remember to always lock the car when I walk away!
After 10 minutes the radio and systems would turn off.
1 button press is to stop the engine, 2nd button press is to turn off everything.
It is how it always was for the push button ones.
It can be changed by custom coding (for example turn off accessories upon opening the door). Dealer won't be able to do anything.
