Question for the SLS/745i gurus
Hi there, I wanted to consult you regarding my 745i. Shortly after I took it for transmission fluid flush. The car started sagging on the rear. I no longer hear the pump. The reservoir is full (pumping the brakes a few times brings the level to max)
Questions?
1. I have noticed that they have put some red ATF fluid. Is that the proper fluid that I should use for the 1985 BMW 745.. or should it imperatively be Pentosin 7.1?
2. I'm suspecting that maybe I just have an electric problem not reaching the pump. Can you please indicate to me where is this pump located? I will send it to Kay for rebuilding at any rate.
3. Am I being stubborn in insisting on keeping the SLS as opposed to air suspension? For example, Does anyone have any experience with the air suspension ride compared to SLS in terms of handling and comfort?
Thank you in advance

the pump is in the trunk, drivers side behind a panel. Its not connected to the power steering or anything under the hood. My 745, which is a project car for sure, still has the SLS and i plan on retaining it if possible. I think air would be a bigger project than maintaining the old system. Most just delete it and go with standard springs and shocks.

Thank you. I looked everywhere and could not find it in Google
Yes 7.1. Usually pump runs but cannot make pressure due to internal leaks. Jay Stratton rebuilds them among other items.
Years back Craig from MI tested and fixed his with info posted here.
So I begin my adventure. Opened the trunk.

Discovered an empty reservoir. Topped it up.
Started the car. No results. Still slammed in the rear...
Unplugged and cleaned up the relay contacts. Plugged it. Said a prayer then started...and voilà !!
